Group Improvisations of Original Compositions
Steve Sandberg is an eclectic musician who has participated in many worlds of music. Steve has studied classical piano starting at age 4. Beginning with a wonderful Austrian teacher named Mr. Siegel (“I never knew his first name”), Steve continued with Michael Rogers, Ralph Affaumado & Sofia Rosoff. Steve was deeply entrenched in the New York Latin music scene as a protege of Mario Rivera; Steve toured with Bebel Gilberto, Ruben Blades & David Bryne (on the “Rei Momo” tour). Steve has conducted / arranged on & off Broadway (“Chronicle of a Death Foretold”), arranged / musical directed for the New York Shakespeare Festival, composer / musical director for Nickelodeon’s “Dora The Explorer” & “Go, Diego, Go!” which led Steve to three (3) Emmy Nominations. Steve also studied raga singing with Michael Harrison & Ustad Mashkoor Ali Khan, & has performed electronic looping concerts at the Knitting Factory, the Guggenheim Museum & Le Petit Versailles.
